And now, we are getting screwed. I’d like to make this short and sweet, but cannot due to the nature of the problem. We have a Fannie Mae loan, which I didn’t even know we had, but anyway. My husband lost his job in August. He is in construction and the field is just about non-existent here. Hundreds of hard working men and women in the labor field are without a job. They don’t qualify for anything other than a labor job, this is all they know. Again, but anyway.
In July I started to reach out to creditors, and our banks to see what can be done to defer payments, etc…because we just could not keep up like we used to. They of course cannot help unless you are late paying them. We filed the paperwork for CitiMortgage and their hardship program. I called them August 17, 2009 and informed them that our income status has changed, that my husband was now out of a job. Oh, lucky for me the gentleman (Roger) says on the other end, we have been approved for a loan modification! Much to my surprise, I felt a sense of relief, like the skies were opening up a bit and things were going to be ok! We would work this out and be ok! BOY was I so wrong! I was told that I would have to fill out a packet of information, sign and sent it back to them, I should have that within 5-10 business days and it would come UPS. At that time, they could work out what my new loan amount would be. I was told to pay 612.66 and be on time, for October 1, 2009, November 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009 and by January 1, 2010 I would have my new loan amount. Wow, that is amazing, thank you!!!!
Screeeeeeeeeech! The tires burn and you come to a complete stop after that! I waited patiently and excitedly to find my packet of papers at the door, only they never came.
I received an account confirmation form to assure them that my contact information has not changed. It stated that if all the information was correct, to do nothing with the form. I filed it away. That was dated 9/1/2009.
I called CitiMortgage back again on 9/22/2009 and explain my situation again. Told (Dion) that I never received my paperwork to move forward with my approved loan modification. I was told that he would put in the request to have it resent, and again, it would be there in 5-10 business days.
Funny thing, I never got that packet either! Now it is 10/1/2009, called to make my first trial loan payment of $612.66, Matt told me he was ‘locked out of the system” and transferred me to Mandy. Mandy told me her system was down and she transferred me to Roberto who was able to process my phone charge and waived my processing fee. A letter dated 10/2/2009 was sent showing the payment was accepted by Western Union.
It’s now 10/10/2009, still no paper work. I called again, spoke with Shawna. She told me that she didn’t even see a request for paper work to be resent. Interesting!!! Well, she said she was go ahead and put the request in right now while I was on the phone, (bless her heart) and that if I didn’t receive it within, yup, you guessed it, 5-10 business days to call back and speak with a supervisor.
10/16/2009 – I call CitiMortgage —why? Because I am now in a default status as per their letter. We are now behind, $3,478.59 WTH??? Ok, so I speak with Sandy tell her about my loan modification problem and she says she will look into it and places me on hold. After 30 minutes 5 seconds of being on hold, I get disconnected. So, I call back. Speak with Julie, didn’t get into details, just asked to speak with a supervisor. Sami is on the phone now. I was assured by her that my credit will not be harmed by this and that she will fix it. She placed me on hold to speak with the loan modification department. Comes back and tells me, that my loan modification papers will arrive UPS in a big packet, with our income/debt statement and a page for us to sign and fax back. Yes, again, it will arrive within 5-10 business days. Guess what, it is now October 27, 2009 and I still do not have ANY paper work. I am NO where other than almost 3 months behind in my mortgage payments and I am, at risk for losing my home.
MY home. A home that three children lay their heads at night. Because we are facing a hardship, and there is something seriously wrong with our government, our banking system, the loan modifications that our President assured all of us would be beneficial and helpful to us, is just creating more havoc, more stress, more sleepless nights, and more foreclosures. What in the world does it take to make people realize that this country, the richest country in the world is such a money driven society that it would allow for it’s people to walk the streets hungry, to have no place to call home, to have children scared and feeling unsafe. How selfish are we? Why does everything we do have to be money driven. Where is the sense of spirit here in the US? We are all dying and drowning and no one, not one person sends out a life raft to help pull us in, instead they throw it out there, dangle the rope in front of you, tease you and then leave you to float out to sea, all alone, in the dark. I have done my research and I am not the only one who shares these feelings. I am not the only one in this situation. I am trying to work with my lender and play by the rules, but I am tired of being taken advantage of and lied to. I won’t and can’t do it anymore. It is time to put a call into action.
CitiMortgage, you should be ashamed of yourself for taking advantage of people in dyer need. Law makers, you should be ashamed of how you are allowing them to do this to hard working, tax paying citizens.
I will be calling CitiMortgage on 10/27/2009, and sadly will call (and tweet to) my local media, my state representatives and yes, I will even write our President (fellow Chicago native) to let him know how much I appreciate all his hard work in keeping Americans in their home.

On her last show (10-10-09), she had a girl that was making $80,000 a year, and ended up leaving a career, got married, lost herself, got divorced and is now in debt living with her sister. Suze asked what is the one thing holding her back and she replied with the exact same answer that I was going to give…FEAR. Suze gave her an assignment to do for the next thirty days and I have taken it upon myself to do the assignment too.
She told her to create a new ‘truth’. She said to write down on a piece of paper 25 times a day, “I am more successful than I ever drempt possible” and to repeat it to yourself a few times a day while looking at yourself in the mirror. Look directly into your eyes and repeat that saying. Do this for 30 days and see where you are and what changes have taken place.
I, being a big believer in the law of attraction, believe that when you think positive, positive things happen. With the way I have been thinking lately with the mortgage, life in general, my husbands lack of work, all the anger, etc…it dawned on me that I am putting too much focus on the negative aspects. SO, once again, it took Suze to snap me out of my weekly funk and I am going to put as much effort in this as I can and at the end of the month, I really want to feel that the saying is in fact my new truth!
I will share my journey with you….
Makes 8 servings
• *1 pound lean ground beef (make sure to use lean or it will be really greasy)
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon pepper
• *1 onion chopped
• *1 16-ounce bag frozen green beans
• *1 can cream of mushroom soup
• *1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
• 1 21-ounce bag tater tots
****1. Crumble raw ground beef in bottom of slow cooker. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
2. Layer remaining ingredients on beef in order listed.
3. Cover. Cook on high 1 hour, Reduce heat to low and cook for 3 hours.
Personal Alteration from community member Trillmom:
* I used 2.5 lbs of beef, no onion, canned green beans to cover the beef, family size can of great value soup, 2 cups cheese.
****I fried and drained my ground beef first, simply because I don’t buy lean ground beef – it’s too expensive. I then layered everything in the pan, and put it in the oven for at the temp and time for the tater tots. It turned out perfect, and the kids LOVED it!!
This meal cost just over $12.00 – I buy in bulk so the cost is really an estimate – you could probably follow the original and do it for close to $5 – that’s a great way to feed 5 people!
Ground beef – 5lbs $9.88 = 4.94
Green beans – Giant can $3.16 = $1.00
Soup – $1.94
Cheese, 6 cup bag – $5.84 = $2.92
Tater tots $1.33

Summer is just about over and fall is right around the corner but no matter what season, one thing will remain constant and that is kids (and adults) love for video games. We have an amazing gamers giveaway and all you have to do is share with us (in detail) what your favorite summer Wii game has been to play, either alone or with your family and how playing video games has brought your family together. We want creative answers, stories, details, not just one word answers. We want to see some thought put into your replies and from there a random winner will be selected to win the following gifts:

The above shows, the Wii NERF Racing Wheel, the Wii NERF Sports Pack, Transformers Stylus and Armor (will receive one style not known), and the Wii Energizer Induction Charger. The prize package retails for approximately $100.00
Giveaway will run from September 15, 2009 to 11:59pm September 30, 2009. Winner will be announced on October 1, 2009 and products will be shipped directly from the manufacturer shortly there after.
GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED: WINNER IS CAROL
Many families were trying to find things to do this summer with their kids, myself included, but the one thing that I noticed we did more of was playing games. We played board games, card games, outside games in the pool and different sport games, and yes, the very popular video games. I would venture to say that our game playing was at it’s all time high this summer! Our favorite game was our Wii system. We got some exercise in, drove a little, battled each other in strength and knowledge and had a great time growing as a family. We enjoy playing video games at home because other than the cost of a game, or even a rental from our favorite Family Video, and yes, we even took a few games out from our local library, the cost involved was very minimal overall. I was contacted by Performance Designed Products to have our family test out a few products and see how they enhanced our game play. PDP is a top name in video game accessories and has several products to keep kids entertained all summer and winter long.
As you may know from playing your own Wii games, the batteries in the controllers are eaten up so quickly. I was changing the batteries at least two to three times a month! Yes, we used our system a lot! When I received the Energizer 4X Charge Station for Wii controllers (retails for approximately $39.99) I was thrilled and excited beyond words! I don’t have to keep a stock of AA batteries in my house at all times. It is the simplest product to use. All you do is plug it in, replace your regular batteries with included rechargeable batteries and slide the controllers in the openings. The red/orange light means it is charging and the green light means its fully charged. It is the best recharging station that I have ever used. The other charging station that we received was the 2X Induction Charge Station (retails for approximately $49.99). This was another amazing little product because our old charging station did not allow for us to keep our silicone sleeves on, making charging the controllers a royal pain in the butt because we had to keep putting on and taking off that sleeve. Again, all you need to do is plug it in and put the controllers in the base and watch the lights change colors from uncharged to charged!

My family game night fun only just begun as the kids got to open their testable products. PDP has a NERF line of products and the kids were having a blast playing with those! I think I may need to get two more sets though! The kids have to take turns using the NERF products but I have found that the fighting over the product hasn’t even started! They are surprisingly taking what they learned in preschool about sharing and are putting it to action with these products. The NERF Sports Pack (retails for $19.99) comes with a fun add-ons for Baseball, Golf, and Tennis. Within the handle of the pack you place your Wii controller and then simply attach it to which ever sport accessory you are playing at the time. I thought it would be difficult for the kids to take apart and change but they seem to have figured it out better than me! Driving has never been more fun with NERF’s driving wheel (retails for $9.99). It is made using that special NERF foam, gosh I love that foam. I think that NERF foam is loved by all, really, who doesn’t love NERF foam products? Each kid gave their thumbs up to these sporty accessories!

My son was over the moon with his Transformer DS kit (retails for $19.99). The kit comes with it’s armor, that wraps or encases the Nintendo DS to protect it from elements and those endless, “Oops, I dropped it” moments. It also comes with a “really cool” matching stylus. He takes his DS everywhere and I am so glad that he loves this kit. If you have a child who is constantly dropping their system, you really need to pick one of these up! It also comes in the “Bumblebee” style.
All in all the products that we (myself and my three children) tested exceeded our expectations. I loved the recharging systems while the kids loved the NERF Wii and Nintendo DS products. It was a happy medium and completely helped in making our game nights more fun! Just knowing we had controllers that worked was all I needed
Our fun doesn’t stop here though because we are going to be giving away some of the same products to one lucky reader! The details for this giveaway will be posted on Monday. Moms With A View and PDP will be giving away the following products: – NERF Racing Wheel, – NERF Sports Pack, – Transformers Stylus and Armor, and the – Energizer Induction Charger. Get your camera’s ready so you can share with us how you spent your summer!
