CitiMortgage: Does Not Play By the Rules

And now, we are getting screwed. I’d like to make this short and sweet, but cannot due to the nature of the problem. We have a Fannie Mae loan, which I didn’t even know we had, but anyway. My husband lost his job in August. He is in construction and the field is just about non-existent here. Hundreds of hard working men and women in the labor field are without a job. They don’t qualify for anything other than a labor job, this is all they know. Again, but anyway.

In July I started to reach out to creditors, and our banks to see what can be done to defer payments, etc…because we just could not keep up like we used to. They of course cannot help unless you are late paying them. We filed the paperwork for CitiMortgage and their hardship program. I called them August 17, 2009 and informed them that our income status has changed, that my husband was now out of a job. Oh, lucky for me the gentleman (Roger) says on the other end, we have been approved for a loan modification! Much to my surprise, I felt a sense of relief, like the skies were opening up a bit and things were going to be ok! We would work this out and be ok! BOY was I so wrong! I was told that I would have to fill out a packet of information, sign and sent it back to them, I should have that within 5-10 business days and it would come UPS. At that time, they could work out what my new loan amount would be. I was told to pay 612.66 and be on time, for October 1, 2009, November 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009 and by January 1, 2010 I would have my new loan amount. Wow, that is amazing, thank you!!!!

Screeeeeeeeeech! The tires burn and you come to a complete stop after that! I waited patiently and excitedly to find my packet of papers at the door, only they never came.

I received an account confirmation form to assure them that my contact information has not changed. It stated that if all the information was correct, to do nothing with the form. I filed it away. That was dated 9/1/2009.

I called CitiMortgage back again on 9/22/2009 and explain my situation again. Told (Dion) that I never received my paperwork to move forward with my approved loan modification. I was told that he would put in the request to have it resent, and again, it would be there in 5-10 business days.

Funny thing, I never got that packet either! Now it is 10/1/2009, called to make my first trial loan payment of $612.66, Matt told me he was ‘locked out of the system” and transferred me to Mandy. Mandy told me her system was down and she transferred me to Roberto who was able to process my phone charge and waived my processing fee. A letter dated 10/2/2009 was sent showing the payment was accepted by Western Union.

It’s now 10/10/2009, still no paper work. I called again, spoke with Shawna. She told me that she didn’t even see a request for paper work to be resent. Interesting!!! Well, she said she was go ahead and put the request in right now while I was on the phone, (bless her heart) and that if I didn’t receive it within, yup, you guessed it, 5-10 business days to call back and speak with a supervisor.

10/16/2009 – I call CitiMortgage —why? Because I am now in a default status as per their letter. We are now behind, $3,478.59 WTH??? Ok, so I speak with Sandy tell her about my loan modification problem and she says she will look into it and places me on hold. After 30 minutes 5 seconds of being on hold, I get disconnected. So, I call back. Speak with Julie, didn’t get into details, just asked to speak with a supervisor. Sami is on the phone now. I was assured by her that my credit will not be harmed by this and that she will fix it. She placed me on hold to speak with the loan modification department. Comes back and tells me, that my loan modification papers will arrive UPS in a big packet, with our income/debt statement and a page for us to sign and fax back. Yes, again, it will arrive within 5-10 business days. Guess what, it is now October 27, 2009 and I still do not have ANY paper work. I am NO where other than almost 3 months behind in my mortgage payments and I am, at risk for losing my home.

MY home. A home that three children lay their heads at night. Because we are facing a hardship, and there is something seriously wrong with our government, our banking system, the loan modifications that our President assured all of us would be beneficial and helpful to us, is just creating more havoc, more stress, more sleepless nights, and more foreclosures. What in the world does it take to make people realize that this country, the richest country in the world is such a money driven society that it would allow for it’s people to walk the streets hungry, to have no place to call home, to have children scared and feeling unsafe. How selfish are we? Why does everything we do have to be money driven. Where is the sense of spirit here in the US? We are all dying and drowning and no one, not one person sends out a life raft to help pull us in, instead they throw it out there, dangle the rope in front of you, tease you and then leave you to float out to sea, all alone, in the dark. I have done my research and I am not the only one who shares these feelings. I am not the only one in this situation. I am trying to work with my lender and play by the rules, but I am tired of being taken advantage of and lied to. I won’t and can’t do it anymore. It is time to put a call into action.

CitiMortgage, you should be ashamed of yourself for taking advantage of people in dyer need. Law makers, you should be ashamed of how you are allowing them to do this to hard working, tax paying citizens.

I will be calling CitiMortgage on 10/27/2009, and sadly will call (and tweet to) my local media, my state representatives and yes, I will even write our President (fellow Chicago native) to let him know how much I appreciate all his hard work in keeping Americans in their home.

Miley Cyrus Concert or Bust

I say bust. As a mom of a tween, of course we live in a house filled with Miley chat, products, clothing, music, and tv. It can get quite overwhelming at times but I do remember having my idols when I was her age so I don’t think too much about it. What I do think too much of lately is an experience with the purchase of Miley Cyrus Fan Club “Pre-sale” concert tickets. Lemme explain.

Miley World announces that you can purchase Pre-Sale concert tickets on Monday, June 8 at 10:00 am local time to the venue. They are allotted 5000 tickets per venue for fan club members. So I wait patiently until the clock strikes 10am and I am at my computer with credit card in hand. Now, first off, they are doing ‘paperless’ ticketing, meaning you are limited to 4 tickets per HOUSEHOLD and the person who’s credit card you used must be present to redeem the tickets. No, you cannot buy little Johnny, or sister Sarah tickets for their birthday unless you plan on driving them and getting them in using that credit card and government issued ID. Now, don’t get me wrong, I understand completely that ticket prices were outrageous, scalpers were out in full force during her last concert appearance so something had to be done. They also had pre-sale for American Express card holders, so even if I wanted to, I couldn’t get another set of 4 tickets and sell the others at face value if I got better seats the second time around. Now, regular sale tickets begin on Saturday. I can try to get tickets under my moms name and address and see if we can get any closer, but then what do I do with the 4 paperless tickets that I will still have? I am kicking myself for buying these tickets. Do I have an out?

I guess my main issue at this point is how Fan Club members get nose – bleed seats? If they are giving you advanced notice by offering you “Pre-Sale” tickets, don’t you think you would get a better shot at getting tickets closer to the stage instead of getting tickets in the 306 section? We pay yearly for this so called fan club, which all it is really, is an online community for tweens and teens to talk about Miley and how much they love her. I can say this for sure. I am thinking twice about renewing that membership, it clearly is not worth it.

Now, I am stuck with crappy seats, out $285.00, and my yearly membership fee. Is my daughter even thrilled to see the concert? Well I can’t say she is too excited knowing that she is going to see a speck on a stage. I just hope the show exceeds our expectations because as of right now, we are not happy Miley fans.

CPSIA vs FDA – Which is worse?

As I was sitting down watching the news and MSNBC tonight they had a spot on regarding the whole peanut mess. Now you know that people have died from this companies lack of compliance to FDA rules and letters, etc… Now they are recalling products and bulk whatever from 2007 to present. They have recalled all kinds of cracker products, dog biscuits, etc…

At this particular time there are no penalties and no legal action that can be taken for the unsanitary factories here in the US which cause these outbreaks. People have been sickened…seriously, to death and nothing is being done about this. What about the tomatoes and scallions from this past summer? Death in this fashion is manslaughter and nothing is being done?

Yet there are people who want to place huge fines on companies that cannot afford to test each and every single piece of clothing, or toy …or book that they come into contact with for lead? All the companies, from small to large, libraries, museums, etc…that will be forced to close us shop because they don’t want to risk something of that nature.

Who is protecting ALL of us from the food we eat? You can’t buy a tomato at the grocery store unless it has been safely tested and passed a salmonella screening? Should that be done for all of us who wish to EAT? This would harm all ages from 0-100+! How can I tell if an apple is safe to eat and isn’t poisoned?

Do we have to go back in time and sew, mend our own clothing, have our children play with blades of grass and rocks, and then start farming so you can eat your own poultry, fruits and veggies? I am sorry for all the venting but it just sickens me that all this crap is put out there to protect us…how in the world is it protecting anyone? One day coffee is good for you, then the next, nope, better stop drinking it. For real! Where is the consistency, where are the laws when people are dying at the unsanitary hand of another?

Does this make sense to you all or am I completely talking out of my rear end with this? Please share your thoughts!

MWAV is on a mission and we need your help!

Moms With A View is on a mission and we need your help! You may be out of the baby stage, but that doesn’t mean you cannot assist us as we venture on to a new mission. We cannot give you too many details, but the next time you go into a fast food chain take a peek in their bathrooms and see if there is a changing station in any of the stalls or anywhere in the bathroom for that matter.

If you go into a fast food restroom that does not have a changing station, please use the form below and let us know all about it. By filling out this form, it will allow us to move forward with our mission to make it mandatory that all fast food chains have a changing station in at least one of it’s stalls or main customer bathrooms.

Think of it this way, as I was watching my nephew, I took my child and him to the local fast food chain for lunch. Guess what happened! Oh no, the baby pooped, as I would have expected from a newborn. I had to go and change him because I just couldn’t let him sit in it right? On to the bathroom. When I get in there, guess what! There was no changing station anywhere to be found. What is a mom to do at this point? Where does she change her baby? Well, I took my nephew and laid him out on the bench at the table and changed him there, 1. because I was pissed that there was no where to change him, and 2. that in order to change him in the car or what have you, that would require me to pack up, get my daughter together and force her to stop playing. While I was doing this changing, I was wondering how many other parents or caretakers were forced into this unhealthy and unsanitary procedure. I began to start taking notice of just how many fast food places do not have changing stations. Why is this? They simply are not mandated so in efforts to, I don’t know, cut costs, they omit this important station. What happens if your child picks up an e coli bacteria from unsanitary changing procedures? Don’t you find it unhealthy and gross to know that you cannot even change your baby in this place or that place? Don’t you feel that all food establishments should be forced to have a changing station, especially those places that are geared towards and target children of all ages?

Please help us with this mission by taking notice yourself and reporting back to us. We are taking this very seriously because we do not want any more children to be harmed by this disgusting, and unhealthy changing practice.

Please take a moment and fill out this survey form. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email.

29.99% You’ve got to be kidding me!

That is what it will cost you if you are late making credit card payments. Take it from me. Someone who is living that right at this very moment! How in the world! To pay $180.00 in finance charges on a 7000.00 credit card balance with a min. payment due of 250.00…and rising gas prices, how does one even pay that? Please explain it to me. Sure, you can cut back on things, but seriously, is it going to even make a difference in what you owe? I was seriously looking around my home trying to figure out what I can sell! Anyone want a broken dining room set? How about a couch with tears in the fabric from when I thought it was safe to put a running vacuum on the cushion to clean it, come to find out, it ruined my material? Oh, I got it, how about selling the coffee table and end tables that my mother in law gave us 15 years ago that we still use in our living room that has wet cup ring marks, and artwork from when the kids thought it was fun to write on them with markers? Or, I know, the 19″ television that still works but is about 18 years old and with the new digital stuff going on, you need to have a box or whatever to make it work? Or the swingset in the backyard that the kids only play on because there is nothing else to do? Yes, selling old stuff…will cover about half of what I am being charged in interest. What about next month? What do I sell then? Old gold chains that we don’t wear anymore?

Ok, so how do you get rid of that high finance rate? I am looking for people who have a high rate card now, or have had one and was able to get it lowered. I am looking for people who were able to get themselves out of the debt hell hole and are living care free right now. I am looking for those who have suggestions and are willing to share their experiences, either past or present. I really want to know how to best handle our troubled finances without having to fall victim to bankruptcy.

Hell, to make it fun, I can offer to send you a paper clip if you provide me with a self address stamped envelope! Perhaps you can use it to clip all your crappy high financed credit card bills together so you too can sit there with a puzzled look on your face every week!
