Dear Santa: All I want is a job for my husband

Dear Santa,

This letter may seem as if it is going to go in all different directions but please know that these are my true feelings and true wishes and I wanted you to know, I still “Believe”. It’s been since mid-October that my husband has had a job. You see, he is in construction. He is a drywall finisher with just about 20 years experience. As you may have heard the housing market is not doing so well, but that isn’t even the half of it. The work he does isn’t even residential; he works on commercial job sites, you know like office build outs, new retail shops, office renovations and things of that nature. Yet again, that isn’t even the problem. The fact of the matter remains that the economy is headed south. Yes, it is winter here and I’d like to head south right along with the economy, but unfortunately due to finances we have to stay here for the duration. See, going south isn’t an option seeing that I can barely afford to pay a mortgage on half a unemployment salary and me being a mompreneur. No, I am not complaining, just saying… It is very tough right now, trying to remain strong and positive for my husband, for the kids and for myself. Doing our best to provide the kids with a happy holiday, even though deep down inside I know that my oldest is scared to death of losing her house, which we have reassured her that no one will take our house, that we will do all we can to make sure that never happens. Did you know, 5th graders know a lot! Yeah, I’ve watched “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” and no, I don’t believe I am, so she catches on quick to things around her. I know my husband is too proud to ask for help, so I am here to do it for him. He knows nothing, and I mean nothing about computers so here I am, asking you, dearest Santa to please bring my husband a job this year for Christmas. He is a hard worker and his main goal is to be able to provide for his family. It doesn’t have to be a labor type job, he is getting up there in age (even though he is only 40, when he used to come home from work, he’d complain that his hands hurt, his back, knees, etc…) that he would even be happy with a nice superintendent job or something along that line. Oh, he also loves sports. Makes calls to the tv even before the ref’s make them. I swear he should go to ref school. But, that costs money and the odds of him going pro is pretty slim from what I’ve read. I thought perhaps he can start a blog about sports, or open an online store of some kind, but I figure I’d just leave all the miracle working to you since this is the season to be jolly. Oh yeah, and before I forget, Alyssa would like to meet Miley Cyrus or Demi Lovato, Scotty would like a PSP, Gianna would like to go back to see Mickey and Minnie, Steve would like a job, and for me, all I would like to see is the happiness and light of hope put back into my husband’s eyes.

With Love,
